Especially due to epidemic diseases which becomes more important in war conditions, veterinary medicine service was conducted by "UmOr-u Baytarlye Department" which was established 14 June 1920 in Ankara . during the War of Independence. After the declaration of the Republic , ızmir Economy Congress was collected in 1923. As a part of decisions taken in this Congress in the framework of veterinary services with the aim of the reorganization , "Five Year Program for Veterinary Service s" was prepared in 1924. Specified in the program between objecti ves , improvement of animal breeds and reproduction , yield enhancement of the product to evaluate, parks , markets, fairs and other places to encouraging manufacturers to create environment, epidemic disease prevention , adequate and competent staffto bring up issues such as are available.

Effects of Edible Films Prepared with Natural Antimicrobials on Listeria monocytogenes

In this study antimicrobial efficiency of edible films prepared with chitosan solution and chitosan solutions enriched with essential oils against Listeria monocytogenes were evaluated on real food matrix. Oregano and clove oil were added to edible film solutions at %0,5 and %1. Kashar cheese slices used as food matrix were contaminated with L. monocytogenes at 5 Log cfu/g. Artificially contaminated cheese samples were wrapped with preperad films and stored at 4°C for 14 days. Antimicrobial effectiveness of films against L. monocytogenes were evaluated by counts periormed on 1,7 and 14 days of storage period. At the end of storage period antimicrobial effectiveness of all film types against L. monocytogenes were determined as significant (P<0,05). Application of edible films to samples were resulted 1,18 to 2,39 Log reduction in count of L. monocytogenes. Generally oregano oil added films were showed greater antimicrobial effect on L. monocytogenes than clove oil added films.

Determining of β-lactamase Activity and Resistanee Against Some Antibiotics of Staphyloeoeeus Strains Isolated From Bovine Mastilis

This study was carried out in 256 cows which were in lactation period in Sarıkamış town of Kars. The animals were examined c1inically in the point of mastitis and inflamational changes of udders were determined with California Mastitis Test (CMT). Consequently, mastitis were diagnosed in 61 of 256 cows (23.8%). 79 milk sample were taken from 61 cows which were positive in CMT test. As a result of microbiological examination, while agent was isolated in 67 of all samples (84.8%), no bacterial agent was not isolated in 12 samples (15.2%). While Staphylococcus aureus was the most determined bacterium with the percentage of 34.3%, coagulase negative staphylococcus (KNS) followed that whit the persentage of 28.3%. Except these two groups of microorganism, Escherichia coliwas isolated in the 5.9% and Streptococcus spp. were isolated in the 16.4% of the samples. In 14 (33.3%) S. Aureus and 4 ( 9.5%) KNS strains, of all isolated staphylococcus strains, β -lacternase was found positive. In the study the resi stance of staphylococcus strains against antibiotics were determined as follows; 59.5% penicillin, 38.1% amoxicillin, 7.1% amoxicillin-c1avulonic acid, 4.8% c1oxacillin, 11.9% enrofloxacin and all strains were found sensitiye against vancomicin. The β -lactarnase activity of the strains was determined to have an important role in resistance against β -lactarn group antibiotics.

Evaluation of Seroprevalence of and Risk Factors for Bruceliosis in Aborted Sheep Herds in the Province Konya

Brusellosis, is a zoonotic infection and cause reproductive system disorders such as abortion and infertility in animals. A number of 588 blood serum samples collected from 24 herds were examined by RBPT, mSAT and ELlSA tests to determine the frequency of the disease in the B. melitensis (B. melitensis) isolation positive sheep herds from province Konya. Besides, a structured questionnaire was used to collect information on the sheep herds' health and management to evaluate risk factors of sheep herds. Of the 588 serum samples, 242 (41.1%), 219 (37.2%) and 254 (43.2%) were found to be positive by RBPT, mSAT and ELISA, respectively . Epidemiological information of herds was determinated by questionnaire. It is concluded from this study that the B. melitensis isolation positive herds have a lot of sero-positive animals found between 24-81.8% depending on the herd tested and such sero-positivity is concern of public health and animal husbandry.

Deterinination of Toxoplasma gondii Seroprevalenee by Indireel Fluoreseent Antibody (lFA) Test in Abortion Experieneed and Abortion Inexperieneed Sheep in Karapınar Distriel of Konya

The objective of this study was to determine Toxoplasma gondii seroprevalence by Indirect Fluorescent Antibody (lFA) Test in abortion experienced and abortion inexperienced sheep in Karapınar district of Konya. For this purpose, total 184 sheep,106 abortion experienced and 78 abortion inexperienced, were examined. Blood samples were collected from sheep and sera were separated. Serum samples were examined for the presence of anti-Toxoplasma gondii antibodies by lFA test. Reactions at titers of 1/64 and more were accepted positive. T. gondii antibodies were detected in 24 (13%) of total 184 sheep, 12 (11.3%) of 106 abortion experienced and 12 (15.4%) of 78 abortion inexperienced sheep. There was no significant difference between abortion experienced and abortion inexperienced sheep in respect to detected seroprevalence (P>0.05). Antibody titers were determined from 1/64 to 1/2048 in the study. There was no significant difference between seroprevalence and age in abortion experienced and abortion inexperienced sheep (P>0.05). Determined sereprevalence values are not despised level in abortion experience d and abortion inexperienced sheep because of economic and zoonoses importance of Toxoplasmosis. Seroprevalence resarehes should be done for keep under the control of Toxoplasmosis in sheep.

The Hepatic Failure in a Dog

This case report was presented the clinical, ultrasonographic, biochemical, hematological, urinary, periteonal fluid and histopathological finding in a dog with hepatic failure. Blood RBC, Hct, Hbg, MCV ve MCHC values were significantly decreased. While Serum AST ve ALT levels were determined significant increased, serum BUN, creatinin, TP, albumin and cholesterol concentrations were determined significant decreased. In the ultrosongrafic examination, hetoregen hyperechogenicity of Iiver parenchyma was observed.

Identification and Biotyping of Bruceıla Strain

It effects national economies negatively in the countries which the disease is endemic. Molecular methods for typing and identification in diagnosis of the Brusellosis are reviewed. Serological methods are excluded.
