A total of 140 cows in various breed, aged 3-12 years old, admitted to the Firat University Veterinary Faculty Clinics with retained placenta between 1996-1999 were were used as material for this study. Regular recordings ol these animals was kept and relation between animal's age, number of pariuration. type of parturition, calving season, sex of calves and incidence of retained placenta was investigated. Among the cows with retained placenta, abortion, twin birth, dead birth and living birth were in 6.42 %, 7.69 %, 5 % and 88.58 %, respectively. A higher risk of retained placenta was observed in cows that calved in spring and summer monlhs. al the ages of 3. 4 and 8 years, that calved for 5 times and dystocia. No relationship was observed between the sex of calve and Irequency of retained placenta.
