This sludy involved application of collagenase in the treatment of infected and ulcerative wounds. For a material, patients consisted of 13 dogs (10 pointer and 3 German shepherd) and 4 horses (1 akha! teke, 1 arap and 2 english). All had varying types of wounds trom superficial to ulcerated. Animals were brought for examination at the Gemlik Military Veterinary School Animal Hospital. In this study, topical collagenase was used only when routine methods had failed to heal ihe wound. Novuxol pomad was used on the wounds. After 7 days assessment of inflammation appeared reduced with wounds becoming smaller. By the 10th day all wounds had completely healed. Notably, epitheliazation had started on dermal edge of wounds by 4-5 days. Concluding that collagenase treatment can assist in wound healing were conventional methods have no succeeded.
