Incidence and Pathology of Hydatid Disease of the Kidney in Sheep

This study was undertaken to determine the incidence and pathology o! hydatid disease of the kidney of sheep which slaughtered at Konya abattoirs. For this purpose, the kidneys ot 10. 000 sheep from different breeds were examined. As a result of these examinations 29 sheep (0. 28 %) ( 3 male, 26 female) had had hydatic cysts. These cysts were observed in left (16 cases), right (11 cases) and bilateral (2 cases) locations. Out of these 29 cases, the pattern of cysts was seen as calcified nodules in 4 cases (13. 8 %), unilocular in 22 cases (75. 9 %) and muttyc-ystic in 3 cases (10. 3 %).
