              <title language="eng">Analysis of cardiac arrhythmias and electrocardiographic indices of clinically healthy saanen goats in different sexes and age groups</title>

healthy Saanen goats are evaluated.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Materials and Methods:&lt;/b&gt; Totally 47 clinically healthy Saanen
goats were assigned to two comprising groups: male, female
(non pregnant), kids and adults. Also, goats were divided
into three groups according to their age, including: G1 &lt;1
year, 1 year &amp;#8804; G2 &lt;3 years, and G3 &amp;#8805;3 years.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Results:&lt;/b&gt; The heart rate ranged from 71.4 to 187.5 beats/min
(118.53±4.73). Sinus arrhythmia was diagnosed in 36.2% of
Saanen goats, which was the most prevalent cardiac arrhythmia.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Conclusion:&lt;/b&gt; It may be stated that some value for the electrocardiographic
indices of Saanen goats differ from that of
other breeds, and little effect of sex and age on electrocardiographic
parameters is reported.</abstract>

              <title language="eng">Serum oxidative status and biochemical parameter levels during in saanen goats</title>

in serum oxidative status and biochemical parameters
during pregnancy in Saanen goats.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Materials and Methods:&lt;/b&gt; In this study, blood samples were
taken prior to pregnancy at 1., 2., 3., 4., 5. months of gestation
and after parturition from 15 female Saanen goats. Serum
malondialdehid and antioxidant activity levels were measured
with ELISA reader, whereas biochemical parameters
were with autoanalyser.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Results:&lt;/b&gt; Malondialdehyde concentration decreased dramatically
in gestation and after parturition and it decreased to
it&#039;s the lowest value at 3. month of gestation (P&lt;0.05). Antioxidant
activity concentrations increased gradually and
it reached to it&#039;s the highest value at 3. month of gestation
(P&lt;0.05). A fluctuation was determined in serum liver damage
indicators. Serum alanine aminotransferase and aspartate
aminotransferase levels determined to be increased at 3. and
5. months whereas gamma glutamyl transferase at 1. month
(P&lt;0.05). Blood urea nitrogen levels determined to be increased
at 5. month (P&lt;0.05).&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Conclusion:&lt;/b&gt; It can be suggested that oxidative stress occurs
during gestation in goats. However, antioxidant capacity can
prevent lipid peroxidation in goats which feed properly.</abstract>

concentrations of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium
and potassium in dromedarian camels.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Material and Method:&lt;/b&gt; Serum calcium, phosphorus, magnesium,
sodium and potassium values were obtained from 180
clinically healthy animals.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Results:&lt;/b&gt; Serum concentration of potassium showed a significant
difference between the two sexes (P&lt;0.049). Also,
serum potassium and calcium levels had significant difference
between the different age groups of camels (P&lt;0.007
and P&lt;0.001, respectively) and had significant correlation
with the age of the animals (r=0.216, P&lt;0.004 and r=-0.205,
P&lt;0.006, respectively). There were significant differences
between summer and winter seasons in the serum concentrations
of calcium (P&lt;0.012), phosphorus (P&lt;0.001), potassium
(P&lt;0.001) and magnesium (P&lt;0.004).&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Conclusion:&lt;/b&gt; It may be stated that season, sex and age effect
the serum concentrations of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium,
sodium and potassium in dromedarian camels.</abstract>

of Corynebacterium cutis lysate on cytokine levels including
hemogram and routine biochemical parameters in sheep.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Materials and Methods:&lt;/b&gt; In the research, 10 male yearling
Merino sheep was used. Recommended dose (8 mg, 0.4 mL)
of Corynebacterium cutis lysate (Ultra-corn® Inj.) was administered
subcutaneously at a single dose to each animal.
Before (0 hour, control) and after the treatments, blood
samples were obtained from v. jugularis at 2, 4, 8, 12, 24, 48,
72 and 96 hours. Concentrations of serum Tumor necrosis
factor alpha (TNF&amp;#945;), Interleukin (IL)-1&amp;#946;, IL-6 and IL-10 were
determined with ELISA reader. Hemogram values (White
blood cell, red blood cell, platelet, hematocrit, hemoglobin)
were determined with hemocell counter, whereas biochemical
values (Creatine kinase-MB, alkaline phosphatase, alanine
aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, gamma
glutamyltransferase, total protein, albumin, blood urea nitrogen,
creatinine) were analyzed with autoanalyzer.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Results:&lt;/b&gt; Corynebacterium cutis lysate caused fluctuations
on the cytokine levels (P&gt;0.05). Hemogram parameters did
not change statistically significant, while fluctuations were
determined (P&lt;0.05) in some biochemical values (Alkaline
phosphatase, total protein, albumin, creatinine).&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Conclusion:&lt;/b&gt; It may be stated that treatment of Corynebacterium
cutis lysate has no impressive effect on the cytokine
levels, and detailed researches are need to determine the effect
of Corynebacterium cutis lysate on the passive immunity.</abstract>

rate of Blue Tongue Virus in sheep flocks in Karaman.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Materials and Methods:&lt;/b&gt; A total of 350 sheep blood serum
samples were collected from 5 flocks (70 from each flocks)
that were randomly selected. Samples were tested against to
Blue Tongue Virus antibodies by a commercial competitive
enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (cELISA).&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Results:&lt;/b&gt; Prevalence of antibodies to Blue Tongue Virus in
flocks was 32.85%, 28.57%, 25.71%, 37.14%, 41.42%, respectively.
Out of 350 serum samples, 116 (33.14%) were
positive for Blue Tongue Virus specific antibodies by cELISA.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Conclusion:&lt;/b&gt; The climate conditions of Turkey might be suitable
for the survival of Culicoides vectors of Blue Tongue
Virus; hence sheep folks should be controlled constantly in
term of BTV.</abstract>

of Escherichia coli (E. coli) O157:H7 strain in cloacal swab
samples of clinically healthy commercial layers.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Materials and Methods:&lt;/b&gt; A total of 200 cloacal swab samples
were collected from laying hens at 10 different layer flocks in
Konya province. All samples were examined by bacteriological
culture method. Verotoxin productions of isolates were
detected by lateral flow assay kit.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Results:&lt;/b&gt; A total of 19 sorbitol negative E. coli strains were
isolated from 19 (9.5%) of 200 cloacal swap samples. Three
(1.5%) of the isolates were identified as E. coli O157 and one
(0.5%) of them was found E. coli O157:H7 positive. The production
of verotoxin 1 and 2 was detected in E. coli O157:H7
isolate.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Conclusion:&lt;/b&gt; It may be stated that the occurrence of E. coli
O157 and E. coli O157:H7 in cloacal swap samples of layers
may be important in veterinary and human public health.</abstract>

in indigenous pigs were described after post-mortem
examination.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Materials and Methods:&lt;/b&gt; Viscera of the pigs from the slaughter
houses were collected. Kidneys, peri-renal fats, ureters,
lungs, liver and mesenteric lymph nodes were examined for
both gross and microscopic lesions.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Results:&lt;/b&gt; Of the 76 pigs 16 (21%) were infected with the
worm. Adult parasites from renal pelvis, ureter, peri-renal
fats and from renal cortex were recovered. Grossly, the affected
kidneys were swollen, congested and marked with
creamy-white necrotic foci visible from the surface. Peri-renal
adipose and connective tissues were also congested and
marked with necrotic foci. Histopathological studies revealed
massive infiltration of the renal parenchyma mainly with
eosinophils, however, some neutrophils and mononuclear
cells were also detected, suggesting interstitial nephritis. In
most of the cases, cross-sections of embedded parasites were
observed in peri-renal tissues.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Conclusion:&lt;/b&gt; Swine kidney worm is a serious problem in pig
that causes severe distortion of renal normal architecture.</abstract>

and some body measurements of Honamlı goats and kids in
3 flocks protected in Antalya, Isparta and Konya provinces.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Materials and Methods:&lt;/b&gt; In the study, liveweights of 624
does and 70 bucks and some body measurements of 75 does
and 70 bucks and birth weights, liveweights and some body
measurements at days 90 and 180 and average daily gains of
75 male and 75 female kids were determined.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Results:&lt;/b&gt; In terms of liveweights and many body measurements
in does and bucks, there were significant differences
(P&lt;0.05-0.001) between the regions and between the ages.
With regard to liveweights in kids, there were significant
differences (P&lt;0.001) between the regions at day 90, but
there were insignificant differences at day 180. Differences
for average daily gains between the regions were significant
(P&lt;0.05-0.001) in all periods. In terms of investigated
body measurements of kids, there were significant differences
(P&lt;0.05-0.001) between regions at day 90, but the differences
were insignificant at day 180, except nose length
(P&lt;0.002).&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Conclusion:&lt;/b&gt; It can be concluded that in terms of LWs and
many body measurements of goats in Antalya are high than
the goats in Konya and Isparta, and also the growth rates of
kids in Antalya are high than the kids in Konya and Isparta. It
can also be expressed that the growth rates of Honamlı kids
protected in breeder conditions are in satisfactory level under
pasture condition.</abstract>

external quality of quail eggs with different eggshell colour,
spot colour and spottiness.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Material and Methods:&lt;/b&gt; In this study, daily collected 318
eggs were used. The treatment groups were classified as those
with very large brown spots on greyish white eggshell colour
(I), black spots of varying size on greyish white eggshell
colour (II), large brown spots on brown eggshell colour (III),
widely distributed brown spots on brown eggshell colour
(IV), and blue spots of varying size on greyish white eggshell
colour (V). The eggs were individually numbered. External
quality characteristics were identified before egg broken out.
After eggs were broken out, long and short diameter of albumen,
albumen height, yolk diameter and yolk height were
evaluated.&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Results:&lt;/b&gt; The differences for value of eggshell percentage
and shell index between groups were statistically significant
(P&lt;0.01). The differences for albumen index, yolk index and
Haugh unit between groups were significant (P&lt;0.01, P&lt;0.
001).&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Conclusion:&lt;/b&gt; It may be expressed that eggshell colour and
spot colour in quail eggs are significantly affected egg quailty
characteristics like eggshell percentage, shell eggs index, albumen
index, yolk index and haugh unit.</abstract>

              <title language="eng">A case of traumatic myiasis in a dog caused by lucilia sericata (diptera: calliphoridae)</title>

Veterinary Clinics with the complaint of injury. On examination,
hundreds of larvae were observed around its left ear. Larvae
were identified depending on the morphological characters
of the anterior spiracles, cephalo-pharyngeal skeleton
and slits of the posterior spiracles. The larvae were detected
as the third stage larvae of Lucilia sericata.</abstract>
