Investigation of the Effcets of Prostaglandin F2α, Furosenıid and Indomethacin on Testosterone Levels in Rams

This study was carried out to investigate the changes occurring in the levels o! serum testosterone in the rams given PGF2u. lurosemid, indomethacin and the combination of this drugs. In the study, 70 Akkaraman rams, approximately 2 years Old were used. PGFa< (0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mg/kg), furosemid (2.0, 4.0 and 6.0 mg/kg), indomethacin (3.0, 6,0 and 9,0 mg/kg) and the combinations of these drugs were intramuscularly given the animals in one dose and in doses lollowmg on each other's (our days. The bfood samples were collected after drug administrations, Testosterone levels were determined by enzyme immunoassay analyser. The mean testosterone levels in the serum were determined to decrease 641, 528, 382 ng/dl and 507, 343. 317 ng/dl in the rams given in one dose and in doses following on each other's four days PGF2a, according to doses, respectively. On the other hand, it was established to reduce in the mean serum testosterone levels that furosemid also was given in one dose and in doses following on each other's (our days in rams. However, the mean testosterone levels in the serum were determined to increase 926, 953, 993 ng/dl and 950, 1019, 1240 ng/dl in the rams given in one dose and in doses following on each other's four days indomelhacin, respectively. In conclusion. PGF2« and furosemid were defined to decrease the levels of serum testosterone in the rams, depend on lime and doses. In contrast, indomethacin was established to increase the levels of serum testosterone in the rams.

The Investigation of the Relationships Between Retained Placenta and Animal's Age, Calving Season, and Type, Number of Parturition (or Parity), and Sex of Calving in the Cows

A total of 140 cows in various breed, aged 3-12 years old, admitted to the Firat University Veterinary Faculty Clinics with retained placenta between 1996-1999 were were used as material for this study. Regular recordings ol these animals was kept and relation between animal's age, number of pariuration. type of parturition, calving season, sex of calves and incidence of retained placenta was investigated. Among the cows with retained placenta, abortion, twin birth, dead birth and living birth were in 6.42 %, 7.69 %, 5 % and 88.58 %, respectively. A higher risk of retained placenta was observed in cows that calved in spring and summer monlhs. al the ages of 3. 4 and 8 years, that calved for 5 times and dystocia. No relationship was observed between the sex of calve and Irequency of retained placenta.

Epidemiology of Tropical Theilerosis in the Malatya Region

Bu çalışma, Mayıs-Haziran 2000 tarihlerinde Malatya yöresinde aşılı ve aşısız sığırlarda tropikal theileriosisin epidemiyolojisinin araştırılması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla 52'si meraya çıkan ve T.annulata'ya karşı aşılı, 82'si meraya çıkmayan aşısız ve 54"ü meraya çıkan aşısız olmak üzere, değişik yaş ve ırkta toplam 188 sığırdan kan alınarak serum elde edilmiştir Bu serumlarda İndirek Floresan Antikor (İFA) testi ile T.annulata'ya karşı şekillenen antikorlar araştırılmıştır. Aynı zamanda sığırların kuyruk ucundan kan alınarak yayma frotller hazırlanmış ve bu frotiler mikroskopik muayene ile T.annulala'nın piroplasm formları yönünden ıncelenmışlır. Malatya yöresinde İFA testi ve kan frotisi bakısı ile muayene edilen sığırlardan sırası ile meraya çıkan aşılıların %46.15 ve %12.19'unun, meraya çıkan aşısızların %31.48 ve %25.92'si ile meraya çıkmayan aşısızların %12.19 ve %3.65'inin seropozitif ve piroplasm taşıyıcısı olduğu saptanmıştır. Meraya çıkmayan aşısız gruba oranla, meraya çıkan aşılı ve aşısız grupta seropozitiflik oranı ve piroplasm taşıyıcılığının daha yüksek olduğu ve aradaki farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu (P<0.001) bulunmuştur.

Meat Yield and Chemical Quality of Crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus Esch., 1823) in Kehan Dam Lake

In this study, meat yield and chemical quality of Astacus leptodactylus caught in Keban Dam Lake were investigated. The study was carried out between October 1996 and September 1997 and a total of 282 crayfish { 135 males, 147 females ) were studied. Annual mean meat yield in crayfish samples were determined as 17.49 ± 3.7 % in female and 18.33 ± 2.3 % in male. The tail meat yield were found higher than of cheliped ones both in female and male crayfish ( p<0.05 ), Chemical analyses showed that male crayfish had 79.7 ± 1.45 % moisture, 16.44 i 1.71 % protein, 0.49 ± 0.25 % fat, 1.37 1 0.33 % ash and 2.03 ± 0.67 % carbonhydrate in their tail meat. These values in cheliped meal ol male crayfish were found 78.99 ± 1.25 %, 17.11 ± 1.45 %. 0.5 ±0.18 %, 1,51 i 0.42 % and 1.90 ± 0.56 % respectively. In tail meat ol female crayfish 79.53 + 1.5 % moisture, 16.74 + 1.61 % protein, 0.45+0.14 % fat, 1.29 ± 0.25 % ash and 2.06 ± 0.59 % carbonhydrate were determined. These values, in cheliped meal of female crayfish were 79,6 ± 1.45 %, 16.8 ±1.77 %, 0.4 ±0.11 %, 1.31 ±0.21 % and 1 86 ± 0,7 % respectively. Statistical evaluation of data showed that moisture quantity of tail meat of male crayfish were higher than in their cheliped meat and protein quantity of cheliped meat were higher than the protein quantity of tail meat (p<0.05 ). In addition, pH values in tail meal were less than in cheliped meat of both male and female crayfish ( p<0.05). However, not any significant difference was found between pH values ol both sex ( p> 0.05 ). As a conclusion; in comparison with other species, crayfish species Astacus leptodactylus ESCH. 1823 has got higher meat yield and their meat has got a better chemical qualities.

A Study on Microbiological and Chemical Changes during the Production and Storage of Potassium Sorbate Treated and Salted Carp Fillets

Microbiological and chemical changes occuired during Ihe production and storage of potassium sorbate treated and salted carp fillets were investigated. The fillets samples wore subjected to sodium chloride with varying radios (5 % and 10 %) and to potassium sorbate with varying ways (by Ireating (he lillets with 0 5 % potassium sorbate and immersing into 5 % potassium sorbate lor 1 mi.). Samples from six different processes including control group were vacuum-packed and slored at 4 ºC. Al certain stages of the production (lillets. end ol sailing and drying) and on days 7. 14. 28 and 56 of storage, the samples were examined microbiologically (total rnesophile aerobe, conform, Staphyloccocus-Micrococcus. Lactobacillus, psychrophlle, yeast and mould) and chemically (moisture. salt, salt in dry matter, pN and TVB-N). Sorbic acid levels were analyzed unlil on day 14 of the storage. Counts of total rnesophile aerobe, colilorm, Staphyloccocus-Micrococcus, Lactobacillus, psychrophile, yeast and mould were decreased with the end ol salting, whereas cohform microorganisms decreased until the end of drying. A! the lollowing stages all the microorganisms were found tc be increased. During the preparation and siorage of ihe produci, the samples treated v/nh 10 % sailed and potassium sorbate were observed lo contain relatively less microorganisms [P > 0.05). Moisture content of 10 % salted samples decreased rapidly (P< 0.05) whereas In 5 % salted samples that remained at higher level and unsimilar variations were detected throughout the storage. Salt levels in all types decreased during production and Storage. However rate of decrease in salt contents of 10 % salted samples were higher (P<0.05) Besides. salt content of 5 % salted samples remained relatively constant until the end of storage (P>0.05). Salt content in dry matter followed Ihe similar path. In all series. pH values diminished fast at (he beginning ol the production whereas Ihe decrease was slow there alier. TVB-N levels in all of the samples remained constant from the beginning of Ihe production until on day 14 of the storage. II increased rapidly reaching the highest level at the end ol ihe siorage there alter Dunng ihe production end storage no significant differences were found between ihe types in terms ol TVB-N levels. Sorbic acid content in samples immersed in to potassium sorbate reached higher levels (P<0.05). ü ıs concluded lhat during the storage of experimentally produced salted carp fillets some chemical parameters moved (n as undesirable course it will be useful to ireat the produci with low consumable properties with in potassium sor-baie and antimicrobial effect ol poiasslm sorbale has increased with Ihe increasing amount ol salt.

Macroanatomical investigations on the dural sinuses in holstein bovine and their extracranial connections

In this study, the dural sinus extracranial connections, were investigated in Holstein cows. For this purpose, eight Holstein cows were used as a material. Blue latex were injected through the external juguler vein. It was determined that the dural sinus consisted of the ventral and dorsal systems. The dorsal system is composed of the transversal sinus, temporal sinus, sigmoid sinus, confluens sinuum, dorsal sagittal sinus and straight sinus. The ventral system of the dural sinus is consisted of the ventral petrosus sinus, basilar sinus and cavernosus sinus. It was observed that extracranial connection of vertebra! vein and occipital vein is to be provided by occipılai emissarial vein. It was determined that extracraniaf connection of basilar sinus and ventral petrosal sinus is to be provided hypoglossal n. canal emissarial vein. It was determined that extracranial connection of ventral petrosal sinus and occipital vein is to be provided by jugular foram i rial emissarial vein. It was determined that extracranial connectioned of temporal sinus and pterygoideal plexus is to be provided by retroarticuiar foramina! emissarial vein, it was observed that extracranial vein connection of cavernosal sinus and pterygoideal plexus is to be provided by oval foraminal emissarial vein.lt was determined that extracranial connection of cavernosal sinus and ophthalmic plexus is to be provided by or-bitorotundi foraminal emissarial vein.

Macroanatomic In vesications on the cisterna Chyli and Thoracic Duct of the While New Zealand Rabbit

In this study, both the formation of the cisterna chyli and courses ot the thoracic duct were mac-roscopically investigated in New Zealand rabbits. In this purpose, eight ot adull New Zealand rabbits were used. Animals were anaesthetized by the combinating ot Rompun and Ketalar. Then, abdominal cavity was opened with a incision. Indian ink were injected inlo the lateral iliac lymphonode, medial iliac lymphonode, hepatic tymphonode. gastric lymphonode. cranial mesenteric lymphonode and caudal mesenteric lymphonode. After that, the courses and formations of the thoracic duct and cisterna chyti were studied by dissecting ol the animals. Cisterna chyli is an elliptical sac like structure which lies at the level ot the second and third lumbar vertebrae. In only one material, it was determined that the cisterna chyli extends from the second lumbar to fourth lumbar vertebrae. It was observed that the cisterna chyli received caudally two branches named lumbar trunk and venlrally visceral trunk.The thoracic due! arises from the cistema chyli at the level of the ongin of cranial mesenteric artery. Then it passed through the aortic hiatus of the diaphragm concominantly with aorta within the thoracic cavity, it situated to right and dorsal to the thoracic aorta from the diaphragm to seventh thoracic vertebrae. It was seen that the thoracic duct extends to the basis cordis and passes to the left side of the midline. In only one matenal, after passing to the diaphragm, it was observed that the thoracic duct divides into two branches. The precardial segment ot the thoracic duct coursed to craniaJ at the left long colli muscle and dilates into an ampulla. It was delermined that the thoracic duct ends in the lett vena cava in six animals But in two ammats, it terminates into the left external jugular vein, alter leaving the cranial thoracic aperture.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma in a Van Cat

In this report, hepatocellular carcinoma in a 5-years-old female Van cat was described. Grossly, grayish-white nodular masses o( 0,1 -6 cm in diameters were found in the liver, spleen, lung, kidneys, abdomen and under the skin. Microscopically, lumor cells were arranged as solid, cord-like and trabecular pattern. Neoplastic cells usually had polygonal and vesicular nuclei and had multiple mitotic figures. Immunohistochemically some tumor markers such as alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), cytokeratin, smooth muscle actin (SMA), and factor Vlll-related antigen (FVIII-Rag) was also studied, and AFP and SMA were found to be positive.

Generalized actinobacillosis in a cow

In the present case, generalized actinobacillosis in a cow was described. Diffuse granulomas varying in size from ptn head to chickpea were seen on the peritoneum, liver, uterus and diaphragm. Microscopical examination revealed that the granulomas were characterized by colonies of bacteria surrounded by radially arranged projections in the center of neutrophil leucocyles which were again surrounded by macrophages and giant cells of Langhans type with outer fibrous capsule including lymphocyte and plasma cells. The sections stained with Brown and Brenn, Ziehl-Neelsen and Gridley methods were positive for Gram-negative bacteria; negative for acid-fast bacilli and mycotic agents, respectively.

Structural characteristics of normal pancreas in hens and histological changes in the endocrine portion after alloxan administration

This study was performed as two consecutive experiments. In the first experiment, normal avian pancreas histology of adult hens was investigated histologically and histochemically. Exocrine part was acinar in nature with their pyramidal epithelial cells. Apical portions of the cells filled with zymogenous granules. Intermediate ducts lined up with simple squamous epithelium were frequently encountered among the acini. In the second experiment, endoenne cells were destroyed by giving intravenously 5% w/v solution of alloxan (Alloxan tetrahyrate-Merck) at a dose of 250 mg/kg body weight. The blood sugar level sharply increased up to 315.7 mg/100ml at the first hour, and by gradual increase, reached at its highest level which is 396,8 mg/100ml at the 28th hour following alloxan administration. In non-treated, normal animals, the levels were between 180-260 mg/l00ml. The zymogenous granules disappeared at the first hour after treatment as demonstrated in the sections stained with Gomori's chrome alum haemaloxylin-phloxine technique. Beta cells at the endocrine islands displayed typical degranulation together with nuclear pyenosis and karyolisis those continued until 48 Ih hour following alloxan adminislration. Delinile cellular changes were observed in the acinar epit-helta around Ihe degenerating islands beginning at the 5th hour after the treatment. The changes continued with the appearance of basophilic granules in Ihe acinar cell cytoplasm while they were gaining more spherical shape. Blood sugar level dropped back to the normal level (222 mg/100ml) after 48 hours. Acinar epithelial cells were observed in the islands among the degenerated endocrine cells one week after the treatment. This was more frequently seen at later periods and was interpreted as a regeneration occured by transformation ot acinar epithelia into beta cells.

The Histological and Chemical Changes Occured Through the Preparation Stages of the Pastrami Produced by Using Automatic Injection and Press-Machines

In this study, the histological and chemical changes occured during the production stages of the pastrami produced by using automatic injection and press-machines were investigated. When compared with the muscle sections from the meal before the production stages, the muscle fibres were swollen, endomysium was indefinite after brine injection, endomysium again became evident and the directions of the muscle fibres changed in the same primary bundles after the first and second pressing process, the muscle fibres became swollen again after covered with cemen paste. In the meat stage glycosaminoglicans accumulated in a few cells, but they disappeared after this stage. The observations on the sections, those were prepared from the pastrami sections taken at the end of each stage showed that no changes occured in the content and structure of lipid deposits. The muscle fibres were grouped as thin, medium and thick groups according to their diameters. The diameters ol the thick and medium type of muscle fibres were increased after brine injection and cemen treatment, whereas a siight decrease in the diameters was seen after massaging and first and second pressing and drying stages; the diameters of the thin type ol muscte fibres increased after massaging stage and decreased thereafter. The results of the chemical analyses of the samples taken during different stages of the pastrami production showed thai relative moisture and pH decreased, whereas sattness increased. The pastramies ready to marketing were chemically found to be convenient to the Food Regulation and Standards on the account of chemical analysis.

Prenatal Development of Kidneys in Rabbits

The aim of this study was to examine the prenatal development o! rabbit kidneys. In Ihe study, 20 of rabbit leiuses were used. The teiuses Irom 19, 23, 27, 29 Ih days of prenatal period were divided into four groups. Kidney development slarted with the existence ol tubuii and glomeruli under Iha capsula The tubuli occupaled larger area more than connective lissue. At Ihis period, ducts were seen in the medulla near (he pelvis. The numbers of tubuli increased in the 23 Ih day of fetal period. Many vacuoles were observed in the cells localized in the tubular wall. The remaining cells in the pelvic epithelium were columnar in shape, A tew tubuli and ascendent and descendent parts of Henle's loop were lound in the medulla. The number of medullar tubuli increased in the 29 th day of ihe fetal period. At this period, renal cortex was heavily populated with the tubuli and glomeruli.

Leiomyosarcoma in a Dos

In this report, a case of leiomyosarcoma in a 3-years-old. male, crossbred dog was described, Mac-roscopically, the tumor mass was measured as 8x3x3 cm in dimensions and was located in the back region. Tumor was grayish-white colored, solitary, subcutan, and had a lobular structure. Microscopically, tumor composed of the neoplastic cells with abundant cytoplasma, blunt and central nucleus. Immunohislochemically, some tumor markers, such as smooth muscle actin, desmin. vimentin and S-100 protein were investigated, from these vimentin was found to be positive.

Purulent encephalitis in a sheep flock

In this article, the clinic-pathologic and pathologic findings of purulent encephalitis observed in an Ak-karaman flock in a local (arm were described. Grossly, the foci of abscess and necrosis up to 4-6 mm diameter were seen in medulla oblongata, pons and cerebral hemispheres, and histopathologic ally microabscesses and purulent meningoencephalitis were detected. It has been considered that these cases might be an outbreak of a listeriosis.

Leiomyoma in Urinary Bladder of a Kangal Dog

In this report, a case of leiomyoma in urinary bladder of a 5 years old. male. Kangal dog was described. The dog was presented with clinical complains of hematuria, stronguria and prolapsus penis. Clinical and radiograph ical findings signed a mass in urinary bladder. Erytrocytes, leucocytes and urine crystals were observed in urine samples. Surgically removed tumoral mass was 3x4x6.5cm in diameter, hard and whitish-pink coloured. His-topathologically tumor diagnosed as leiomyoma. Corynebactenum spp. was isolated from urine in postsurgical period.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma in a Sheep

Hepatocellular carcinoma, detected in a 4-years-old sheep, was described in the present study. Grossly, grayish-while coloured. 1,7x1.5x1 cm in dimensions and well circumscribed, a solitary tumor mass were seen in the diaphragmatic aspect of the right lobe of liver. Microscopically, the neoplastic cells were arranged in solid pattern. Tumour was diagnosed as solid, poorly differentiated hepatocellular carcinoma. Immunohistochemically. some tumour markers, such as carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), alpha-letoprotein (AFP), of the intermediate filament proteins, cylokeralin, and superficial antigens of hepatitis B virus was investigated, and alpha-letoprotein (AFP) was founded to be positive.

Blood Serum Thyroid Hormone Levels And Rumen Protozoa In Merino Rams At Different Environmental Temperatures

In the study, a total ol 18 merino rams which were at the same age, similar body weight and healthy were used, The levels of thyroid hormone were measured in blood serum, ruminal pH and protozoa count were determined and the species of protozoon were identified in rumen contents at different environmental temperatures in the different seasons. The levels of blood serum total thyroxin and total triiodothyronine, ruminal pH and protozoa count were found to be lower amounls in the animals at 23.7JC and 20.0 % relative humidity (RH). when compared to the same values ol the rams at 3.2"C and 63.3 % RH. The percentages o( the protozoon species did not significantly alter depended on the environmental temperatures in the experiment.

Concentration of Nitric Oxide Oxidation Products and Antioxidant Vitamins in Chicken Fed with Supplemental Zinc

The aim o! this study ts to determine o! the effect of supplemental zinc on the concentration of the oxidation products of nilnc oxide and antioxidant vitamins in chicken serum. Chicken were divided into three experimental groups and one control group, each group containing seven chicken. The experimental groups were treated supplement zinc (125, 500, 1000 ppm). The concentration of nitric oxide oxidation products and antioxidant vitamins in the serum of zinc treated chicken were analysed with spectrophotometry ally. Nitrate (ppm), nitrite (ppm), vitamin E (mg/dl), vitamin C (mg/dl) concentrations ol experimental groups 1.. 2., 3. and control group were found : 6.16, 6.41, 13.16, 7.38, 1.09, 1.20, 1,30, 1.78; 0.121, 0,326, 0.247. 0,313: 0.927, 1.682. 1.204, 1.323 respectively. Nitrite levels of control groups was found higher than experimental groups l.and 2 (p<0.05). Nitrate levels were not significantly diflerentes between groups. The vitamin E concentration of 1 experimental group was lower than other groups (p<0.05). The vilamin C concentration of 2 experimental group was higher than 1 and 3 experimental groups (p<0.05). In conclusion; the concentration of nitric oxide oxidation products in serum of zinc treated chicken were not differentes between groups, but the antioxidant vitamins levels were increased. These results support the idea that zinc has an important rol in the metabolism as an antioxidant trace element in chicken.

Production Traits of Tushin Sheep Il. Milk and Wool Yield

This study has been carried out to determine the yield of milk and wool in Tushin sheep. Twenty Iwo sheep were used for milk yield in 1997 and 66 in 1998, For fleece weight 9 rams and 79 ewes were used in 1998. The overall means of milk yield, milk lat and lactation lenght were found as 75,24±0.36 kg. 6,65±0.01 % and 127.6+0.18 day respectively. Lactation lenght was significantly affected by year (P< 0.05). There were significant positive correlations between milk yield and laclation lenght (0.55) and milk fat (0.30). The means ol fleece weight, fibre diameter, modullated ratio, staple length and twine unit were 1.94±0.07 kg, 28.65+0.51 micron, 7 84+1.30 %, 11.49±0.30 cm and 2.93+0,21 unit respectively. Sex significantly affected fleece weight and twine unit (P< 0.05, P< 0,01), The correlations between fleece weight and staple length (0.34) and twine unit (0.24), and between fibre diameter and me-dullated ratio (0.54) were statistically significant. Tushin sheep, generally kept around Kars and Ardahan, is an im-portand sheep for (his region, so that it should be reared as a gene source.

The Growth Performance of Rock Partridge (Alectoris graeca) Fed the Diets with Different Protein Level

This study was carried out to determine the effects ol different protein levels on growth characteristics in rock partridges. A total of 279 partridges were used in this study. Partridges were fed the diets with 16. 20 . 24. 28 % CP in 0-5 weeks. (Group I. II. ill. IV), and 14. 18, 22. 24 % CP in 6-9 weeks. At the end ol the research, live weight in groups were found to be 282.02, 333.38, 357.75 and 372.10 g respectively (P<0.001). As a result, depend on the increase of protein level in diets live weight and feed efficiency were increased.

The purpose of this study is 1o determine the relationships belween body weight and age ol sexual maturity in broiler breeders and to determine the effects of housing together male and female broiler parents with different body weight at 22 weeks old age dunng production period on mortality, egg production, egg weight, hatchablity, fertility. As the research material. 778 Avian female and 116 Peterson male broiler breeders were used Pareni male and female chickens were separately divided into three base body weight groups called light, middle and heavy al 22 weeks old age Separately three body weight subgroups which have almost similar variance and average values were obtained from base body weight groups by using sensitive sampling method Six male and 64 female broiler breeder parent chickens obtained from bodyweighl subgroups were housed in 9 pens during production period, Egg production percentage, egg weight, halchability, fertility, age at sexual maturity of broiler breeder chicken groups were determined. Age at onset ot lay ot Hh (Light male X light lemale), Ha, Ho. Ah. AafHeavy male x heavy female), Ao, Oh Oa and OofMiddle male x middle female) broiler breeder female groups were determined as 186, 179. 181, IBS 173 181. 184, 176, and 180 days, respectively. There were no statistically significant dilferences among broiler breeder parent groups in respects of average production period egg production percentage, egg weight, fertility and hatc-hability As a result. il can be said that there were need to investigate the effect of body weight trait ot different mating groups at sexual maturity age in broiler breeders on the performance of then offsprings.

Effect of dietary fiber on the quality of low fat salami

This study was made to evaluate the effect of replacing fat with dietary libre (inulin) in heat processed meat products (salami) produced from beef and poultry meat. The sensorial properties (tenderness, flavour, juiciness, colour, texture and overall acceptability) of low fat (2.27 %) poultry salamies with lormulated inulin were not significantly affected and were similar to those of the controls {15% fat). Inulin addition to low lat (4.46 %) red meal salami improved sensorial characteristics except colour compored to salamies not adding inulin and fat. Low fat (4.46 %) red meat salamies were obviously darker and redder than controls. The use of fat aroma with together inulin was improved the flavour. The lowering of fat content in salamies increased the moisture content. The results of this study indicated that the fat may be replaced with dietary fibre (plus fat aroma) to produce dietetic poultry meat salami without meaningfully altering the sensorial and physico-chemical characteristics, and the lowering of fat rate in red meat salami caused an undesirable colour change.

Chromophobe adenoma of the pituitary gland in a dog

In this report, sinusoidal type of chromophobe adenoma in the pars distalis of pituitary gland was described with gross and microscopic findings in a 7 year-old. Terrier dog. Grossly, it was placed in the base of the brain, in between chiasma oplicum and anterior of pons cerebri. The tumor mass was 1.4x2.0x1.7 cm in diameter, spherical, firm and dark brown in colour. Microscopically, large round shaped chromophobe cells were observed. There were abundant sinusoids which were enlarged and filled with erythrocytes in between Ihese cells. A few rosette fike structures were also present.

From this date until the end ot 19th century, the appointment of foreign staff for education in the school, the increase in academical and professional contacts at international level within the field of veterinary medicine, and the efforts exerted to reflect the western scientific understanding upon the education caused Turkish to be influenced by foreign languages. Studies on adoption of Turkish as dominant language were started with Tanzimat, 1839 regulations; and the first senous step in this aspect was taken with the Revulation in Turkish alphabet in Republic era. Studies to adopt into Turkish were started on scientific terms; and within the time. Humane and Veterinary Medical fields were affected. Studies to adopt into Turkish in veterinary medicine processed in parallel with those in Medicine, and the progresses in both fields completed each other. Studies to adopt into Turkish in Veterinary Medicine were noticed in basic sciences like Anatomy, and it particularly turned into a systematical format within the structure of Higher Agriculture Institute. Purification and simplification studies on the terms, idioms and words of Humane and Veterinary Medicine at scientific sense has been continued for centuries despite all disadvantages that were confronted at different periods, and it is also continuing at present. The presentation of a new concept into the use of humanity from day to day in parallel to scientific developments in this era. could be considered as the continuation of studies to lind out terms matching these concepts in the future.
