Determination of salicylate levels in blood and urine in the dogs

In this study, lour female dogs their body weights from 13 to 28 kg. were used. Foley catheter was passed through the urethra and into the baldder in general anesthetized dogs Acetylsalicylic acid 25 mg/kg in Ringer lactate was given to animals. The blood and urine samples in 0, 5, 15, 30, 60. 90. 120, 180 and 240th minutes were taken. The salicylate levels in the blood and urine were determined 9.80 mg/100 ml. and 52.18 mg/100 ml. in 5th minutes, respectively. During the 240 minutes period of experiment, the salicylate levels in the blood were higher than control period level. But the salicylate levels in the urine were approximately the same control period level after 20 th minute.
