Abstract | |
Coronaviruses are enveloped, positive strand RNA viruses.
They can cause many respiratory, enteric, hepatic and neurological
diseases in humans and animals. Alpha and Beta are
the most common types in humans. Human Coronaviruses
(HCoV) were first described in the 1960s. Later, outbreaks of
different severe Coronavirus infections called MERS-CoV and
SARS-CoV have been reported. Finally, in December 2019,
new Coronavirus infections (2019-nCoV, with more recent
definitions SARS-CoV2 or COVID-19), which started in Wuhan,
China's Hubei province and spread all over the world,
were reported. Unlike other coronavirus infections seen to
date, this new coronavirus infection has spread very rapidly
and has affected the whole world. In this review, it is aimed
to provide important and up-to-date information about Covid-
19 infection, which turned into a pandemic in a very short
time. |
